There are two kinds of long-term storage, Solid State Drives(SSD) and Hard Disk Drives(HDD). HDDs use magnetic disks that contain the information and magnetic heads on a moving arm to read them. SSDs use electronic circuits to store information. This makes them much faster than HDDs, but they usually contain much less storage space.
